Ben + Brit are like beer and sunshine - good on their own, better together. We see the world differently. When we’re shooting, different things will capture our eye - whether it’s the light from our unique angle, an expression, a feature of the landscape, or a composition that’s interesting to us. When we shoot together, we get variety in the images we create and coverage of you and your day that just isn’t possible with a single shooter. For these reasons, Ben + Brit typically come as a pair and especially for full weddings, we highly recommend two shooters. Reach out to us to chat about coverage for your day.

We sure do. We’re based on beautiful Bowen Island just outside of Vancouver, BC, but are happy to travel anywhere for a good photo and a good time.

You tell us! This is always an interesting one to answer and we’d love to know what you think. If we had to answer, we’d say “like real life, but better”. We’re not into over-editing - if you had a bluebird day for your shoot, you’ll have a blue sky in your images. If the day was moody, your images will feel that way. We edit in a way that is true to what we captured on the day, but elevated.

Our goal is to tell the story of your day in a way that is creative, emotive, and impactful. Sometimes, this means delivering an image in colour, sometimes in black + white. Sometimes the colour really lends to the feeling of the moment and the day; sometimes, it can distract. Black + white images lead your eye to what is most important in the image: the emotions and the feeling of the moment and the day. We carefully make the choice to go colour or black + white during our editing process.

Welcome to the club! But don’t worry. We’re all about integrating ourselves into your day and documenting what’s organically happening, so a lot of the time, you won’t even notice we’re there. That said, we do provide some direction now and then so that we make the most of our light and environment, particularly in portrait sessions. Even then, though, we promise - it won’t actually feel as awkward as you’re imagining, you WILL look amazing, and you’ll love the outcome! A great way to get used to being around the cameras before your big day is to have a couples shoot or engagement session with us first. It gives us all a chance to get to know each other, have some laughs, and leave you with some beautiful images that you can use for your wedding website and invitations, or just to enjoy for yourselves.
